I’m a little slow getting this posting off.. So, it will be brief..


Spartans win: 28 - 6

What did I learn about the Spartans after game one, at home against the Youngstown State Penguins…

In 2 words: not much…. I saw a rusty slow start, I saw “O” Line that was more synced up than expected, I saw the backfield very capable, I saw the receivers and Kirk Cousins on target.. all in all it was what I expected.

More over: no real spectacular “D” line.. Line backers I thought played well, considering they are replacing a two time all American..  All in all .. Nothing new, no new plays..

Traditionally the biggest improvements in the year are always between Game 1 and Game 2, I am sure this will be the case.

What did bother me the most was the little time of passion the Spartans had.  I was surprised that they held the ball. MSU had only 10 minutes of ball time in the first half,  to almost double that for YS..  Ouch…   they got on track in the second half… limiting YS to 12 minutes….  Am a little afraid unless corrected it foretells something I will not bring up today…  Rust.. let’s just say it was rust…

We do have new neighbors in our section, new folks sitting in front of us.. No real smell of whiskey on his breath, so he must not have been tailgating like we do...  seem like good Spartans..  don’t know the folks, and don’ t want to disparage anyone but a wolverine…

A Spartan Victory under the lights, a sold out crowd to witness game one.. What a great night..

Great to be back in Spartan Stadium..  But, the Spartans went though this game like it was an intentional tune up, they looked as though that have planned to work on certain aspects and give new guys chances to play to see what everyone can do in game situations.  Frankly it is different when you line up against someone other than your teammates to hit..
